CARING FOR YOUR GARMENTS
Camilla Pihl focuses on creating essential and timeless pieces that can last season after season. Each product is thoughtfully designed and we encourage our customers to increase the life cycle of their products by following the correct care and maintenance directions provided.
STORING
We encourage you to store your clothes in the best way, in order to ensure long lasting garments.
Knitwear: We advise you to always fold your knitwear and store flat. Do not let your knits hang, as this will alter the shape and tension of masks. Never tumble knitwear dry, but always lay flat to dry.
Suiting: Hang your blazers on wooden hangers in a dry place. Suit trousers should be folded in accordance with press folds to ensure endurance of shape and fit.
REPAIR AND PRESERVATION
We always advice you to maintain or mend your clothes before replacing, as the development of each piece of clothing demands much work. Treat them as a long-term investment that always deserves a second chance in life.
Moth holes: Delicate wool sweaters with moth holes can be sewn together with a thread in similar thickness as the yarn of sweater. Watch techniques online for how to best mend. A moth hole does not mean that expensive knitwear is waste.
Pilling: when using natural fibers in clothes many fabrics may pill over time. This is a normal process, and especially for soft knitwear or knitwear with long fibers. There are however easy methods to remove excess pilling. We recommend you to use our Pihl Wool Combs that you gently brush over to remove any pilling.
WASHING AND DRYING
Do not wash your clothes more often than what is necessary. Always pay attention to care labels as they give special advice based on the specific materials used in garment to ensure best condition.
Knitwear: wool is anti-bacterial and does not need to be washed often. It is self-cleaning and repels dirt naturally. Hang your wool up for a few hours, preferably outside, and it will regenerate. Instead of washing your wool garments, simply use the technique of spot-washing by using a damped cloth with wool shampoo. Pat try with a towel to remove any excess water. If machine washing, we advise you to use as low temperature as possible and on wool program. Wool conditioners may be used, but keep in mind that a softener can also increase pilling of your garment. Never tumble your wool garments dry, but always lay down flat to dry. We also advise you to use garment bags that reduce microfiber shedding from materials such as polyester.
Silk and delicate fabrics: Wash on low temperature and use a special laundry bag to ensure that the quality is kept at its best. Turn garments inside out to best preserve the colors.
Time: save water by selecting programs with shorter wash cycles.
A SECOND CHANCE IN LIFE
Instead of throwing away your garment we encourage you to give it to a new owner. You can always give your clothes to charities, shelters or local charity shops. With social media there is also a great chance to resale used clothes online, and to find a new home for your garment.
We want our customers to always feel free to contact us in regard to material guide or care advice. We will do our very best to help you with any enquiries.
